It is estimated that smoke from cooking fuels accounts for nearly 2 million deaths annually (WHO and UNDP 2009), which is more than the deaths from malaria or tuberculosis.
Summary: Community Enterprise Solutions creates positive health impact through empowering first-time women entrepreneurs to sell vital solutions that address problems such as vision problems, pulmonary and water-borne diseases, lack of appropriate nutrition and more.

Glasses: this is the number of near vision and UV protective glasses sold by MCM entrepreneurs since we began offering them in August of 2004. An estimated 40% of Guatemalan families cook on open fires in their homes, greatly increasing their risk of contracting pulmonary and other diseases.
